Protecting your privacy

The privacy protection goal of ACM Group is to handle information held about clients and consumers in a responsible manner. All references to 'ACM Group' and 'we' in this privacy policy also apply to Advanced Credit Management Pty Ltd and Accounts Control Management Services Pty Ltd.

ACM Group complies with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Act). We will only collect, use, disclose and store personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act and this privacy policy.

Collection and use of your personal information

ACM Group collects personal information about and from consumers only for the core functions of its business. The type of personal information we collect includes:

  • Name;
  • Address (and previous address);
  • Date of birth;
  • Gender;
  • Employer (and previous employers);
  • Occupation (and previous occupations);
  • Contact information, including work, home, mobile; e-mail and
  • Account details or other financial information.

ACM Group uses this information to perform the functions of its business, to identify and to contact consumers. We do not adopt, use or disclose a government identifier to identify you.

ACM Group will not collect sensitive information about consumers without their consent or where we are otherwise entitled to do so.

ACM Group will ask for personal information in writing, by telephone or by other electronic communication methods. However, ACM Group may also collect personal information from third parties such as employers, business associates, bankers, credit reference agencies, our contracted agents or other service providers.

ACM Group advises that it may record and or monitor calls for quality and training purposes.

Cookies

ACM Group does not collect personal information via our website through either session or permanent type cookies.

Disclosure of your personal information

In order to perform our business functions, we may disclose personal information to third parties. The types of third parties we may disclose personal information to include:

  • Our clients;
  • Credit reporting agencies;
  • Our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors and lawyers;
  • Our service/information providers.
  • Consumers authorised agents, including legal or financial advisors (only when requested to do so);
  • Government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required by law.

ACM Group will only transfer personal information to a third party located in a foreign country where the information will be subject to a comparable privacy regime to that applying in Australia and this privacy policy.

Security and accuracy of your personal information

ACM Group’s information systems and files are kept secure from unauthorised access, misuse, modification or unauthorised disclosure. Our staff, agents and service providers have been informed of the importance we place on protecting privacy.

ACM Group takes all reasonable steps to destroy paper records that contain personal information that are no longer required. Paper records are destroyed via various methods including shredding and disintegration.

ACM Group takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, the accuracy of that information depends to a large extent on the information provided to us by consumers and third parties.

Please let us know if there are any errors in personal information and keep us up to date with changes to personal information such as name or address. For changes to personal information please contact us at the address noted below.

Accessing your personal information

Consumers may request to obtain personal information that we keep on record about them. Disclosure of personal information to consumers about themselves is subject to any legal restrictions, including for the purpose of correcting or updating information. ACM Group will need to validate the identity of anyone making an access request to ensure we are dealing with the correct person. If your request is particularly complex or requires detailed searching of our records, there may be a cost to consumers in order for us to provide specific information.

If ACM Group refuses to provide consumers with access to their information, we will provide reasons for the refusal and inform consumers of any exceptions relied on under the NPPs.
